East Cambridge Tree Mitigation

The CRA has been working with Green Cambridge since 2023 to mitigate the loss of 128 trees in Kendall Square due to the development of 121 Broadway, 290 Binney Street, and Center Plaza. Tree planting is conducted by members of Green Cambridge’s Canopy Crew internship program, a paid urban forestry internship for students aged 16-18. Canopy Crew members coordinate with local residents to plant trees in backyards and other spaces. With a total of 93 trees planted to date, the remaining 35 trees are expected to be installed in 2025.
