Central Square Lots
The CRA is assisting the City of Cambridge in advancing the redevelopment of two City-owned parking lots located at 84 and 96 Bishop Allen Drive in the heart of Central Square. These parcels, containing approximately 33,000 square feet and 6,000 square feet respectively, were identified by the City’s Central Square City Lots Study as providing potential opportunities for housing, including flexible arts and market space, small business incubators, and civic open space, among other uses. In 2024, the CRA supported the City in issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit ideas from the market rate and affordable housing developers about the redevelopment opportunity.
